Morvin facilities cleared for start-up

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved the production facilities for Statoil’s Morvin subsea development in the Norwegian Sea, due on stream in August.

OSLO -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved the production facilities for Statoil’s Morvin subsea development in the Norwegian Sea, due on stream in August. The consent also applies to new process equipment on the Åsgard B platform.

Morvin is a high pressure, high temperature oil field in block 6506/11 in the Norwegian Sea, 20 km (12.4 mi) north of the Kristin field and 15 km (9.3 mi) west of Ă…sgard B.

The field is being developed with two seabed well templates and four production wells. The wellstream will be sent via a pipeline to Ă…sgard B for processing and export.

Modifications of process equipment on Ă…sgard B include:
• Upgrades to the hydrate injection system
• New chemical injection pumps
• New hydraulics package to accommodate the seabed installations
• Power supply system for direct electric heating
• Gas outlet from the gas injection system to gas lift on the riser base
• Upgrade of metering system on the test separator. 

Statoil operates Morvin with a 64% interest, in partnership with Eni (30%) and Total (6%).
