OSLO, Norway – Equinor has approval from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate to extend the technical lifespan of the FPSO Åsgard A in the Norwegian Sea until 2027, 12 years longer than in the original development plan.
Most of the gas injection wells on the Smørbukk and Smørbukk Sør satellites are tied in to theÅsgard A. Both fields will rely on gas injection from the platform being sustained through the 2020s to continue liquids production.
Recovery ofTrestakk (a current subsea development through the Kristin field facilities) and the Blåbjørn discovery will also depend on the Åsgard A continuing in service.
In addition, Equinor and its partners are also considering new drilling targets and wells linked to theÅsgard A and expect to implement a new low wellhead pressure project in 2022.
