RENDLESHAM, UK – ConocoPhillips has ordered API 610 OH2 separator recirculation pumps from Amarinth for the Britannia platform in the UK central North Sea.
These are associated with modifications to handle the tie-in of theChevron-operated Alder field.
The pumps are for high-pressure duties on the platform separator recirculation process where the suction pressure can fluctuate between 1 and 60 bar (14.5 and 870 psi). To accommodate these conditions, Amarinth designed a new pump casing with a higher pressure tolerance of 75 bar (1,088 psi).
The large fluctuations in pressure also necessitate a seal support system that uses a take-off from the pumps in order to continually balance the seal pressure with the pump pressure.
