STORD, Norway – ConocoPhillips Skandinavia’s new Eldfisk 2/7 S production platform topsides is due to leave Kvaerner’s yard in western Norway today for its offshore location.

The structure, completed last month, comprises a combined living quarter and utility module and a combined process and wellhead module, with a total weight of 15,500 tons.

Some of the fabrication was subcontracted to yards in Poland and Finland, with final fabrication, assembly, and commissioning coming at Stord.

Additionally, Kvaerner supplied two bridges, one bridge support module and a flare, all delivered directly to theEldfisk field last year from the company’s subcontractors in Poland. At peak, more than 2,000 personnel were involved.

The topsides will be towed to field and lifted onto the steel jacket substructure in two separate lifts. Kvaerner will then perform offshore hook-up to prepare the platform for the production start. This work will continue into the fall.

Eldfisk is part of theGreater Ekofisk Area in the southern Norwegian North Sea, around 300 km (186 mi) from the Norwegian shore.
