Offshore staff
ZWIJNDRECHT, the Netherlands – Marathon has awarded Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG) the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation (EPCI) contract for the new 6,000-ton Alba PSC B3 gas compression platform offshore Equatorial Guinea.
The Alba PSC B3 facility will feature a 4,500-ton topsides with an overall length of 40 m (131 ft), a width of 40 m, and a height of 35 m (115 ft). Its 1,550-ton four-legged jacket will be 33 m (108 ft) wide and 81 m (266 ft) tall. This will be bridge-linked to the existing Alba B2 platform.
HFG will manage the overall project from Houston, and subcontract to other companies the EPCI scope including offshore hook-up and commissioning in Equatorial Guinea. HFG and Iv-Oil&Gas will jointly execute the EPC scope from Iv-AGA’s offices in Houston. Heerema Marine Contractors has been subcontracted for transportation of the platform and installation on theAlba field.
The fabrication scope, including construction of the flare boom and bridge locally in Equatorial Guinea, will be tendered this year, with offshore installation scheduled for late 2015, followed by start-up in mid-2016.
Alba is a gas and condensate field 20 mi (32 km) north of Bioko Island. Marathon operates in partnership with Noble Energy-subsidiary Samedan of North Africa and Compania Nacional de Petroleos de Guinea Ecuatorial (GEPetrol).
