Statoil has commissioned an extended concept study from Aker Solutions for the Johan Castberg oil field development in the Barents Sea.

FORNEBU, Norway – Statoil has commissioned an extended concept study from Aker Solutions for the Johan Castberg oil field development in the Barents Sea.
This concerns the field’s floating production platform. The contract is valued at $41 million and includes options for further work.
Johan Castberg comprises theSkrugard and Havis discoveries, estimated to contain 400-600 MMbbl of oil. The location is 240 km (149 mi) northwest of Hammerfest, northern Norway.
