ABERDEEN, UK – The topsides for Talisman Sinopec UK’s new Montrose bridge linked platform (BLP) in the UK central North Sea has departed Heerema Fabrication Group’s Zwijndrecht yard near Rotterdam.
En route, the transportation vessel was due to stop at Schiedam for installation and commissioning of an 80-metric ton (88-ton) pedestal crane to the topsides and attachment of the upper sections of the exhaust stacks.
The voyage should resume at the end of this month, with the Heerema crane vessel eventually installing the topsides on the 5,745-ton, 119-m (390-ft) talljacket, built by OGN in Wallsend, UK.
Talisman Sinopec UK’s (TSUK)Montrose area redevelopment (MAR) includes development of the Cayley and Shaw fields. Both will be tied back via subsea facilities to the new BLP, comprising two 5-km (3-mi) long pipeline bundles, various production, water injection and gas lift pipelines, and a 17-km (11-mi) control umbilical, all installed by Subsea 7.
The BLP itself will be connected via a 71-m (233-ft) bridge, built by Wilton Engineering Services, to the Montrose Alpha platform to provide additional process and plant support facilities.
TSUK expects the project will extend the life of the Montrose Area fields at least beyond 2030, and lead to extraction of an additional 100 MMboe.
As part of the project, theGodwin satellite came onstream last summer via an extended-reach well from the Arbroath platform. Cayley and Shaw should start up next year, with incremental output set to peak at up to 40,000 boe/d.
