Woodside chooses Dril-Quip subsea wellheads for deepwater Trion project

HOUSTON – Woodside Energy has contracted Dril-Quip to supply the subsea wellhead systems for the deepwater Trion oilfield development offshore Mexico.

Trion will feature 24 wells, drilled in two phases.

Dril-Quip will supply its BigBore IIe subsea wellheads which provide 2 MM lb. lockdown capacity. According to the company, the BBIIe system eliminates the need for lockdown sleeves during drilling and production, saving rig time and reducing overall costs.

Its facility in Villahermosa, Mexico will support the project.
