NEWCASTLE & HOUSTON — TechnipFMC has been awarded a contract by Woodside Energy to engineer, procure, construct and install flexible pipes and umbilicals for the Julimar Phase 3 development offshore Western Australia.

The Julimar Field is about 200 km (124 miles) offshore northwest Australia.

TechnipFMC will tie back four subsea gas wells in the Carnarvon Basin to the existing Julimar subsea infrastructure producing to the Wheatstone platform, using HP/HT flexible pipe and steel tube umbilicals. The contract is valued at between $75 million and $250 million.

Jonathan Landes, president, Subsea at TechnipFMC, said, “We have a strong history of solid project execution with Woodside as demonstrated by the successful delivery of the Pyxis, Lambert Deep and Greater Western Flank Phase 3 projects. We look forward to continuing this collaborative relationship with this award on Julimar Phase 3 as part of our framework agreement.”

Woodside Energy Julimar Pty Ltd. (Woodside Energy) is operator on behalf of the Julimar joint venture participants, which include Woodside Energy (65%) and KUFPEC Australia (Julimar) Pty Ltd. (35%).

In December 2019, Woodside contracted Subsea7 to perform offshore activities for Phase 2 of the Julimar-Brunello project. Subsea7 designed, procured, installed and commissioned a 22-km (13.7-mile), 18-inch corrosion-resistant alloy gas transmission flowline and an umbilical system.

Then in 2020 Subsea7 contracted Airborne Oil & Gas to design, manufacture and deliver two thermoplastic composite pipe (TCP) jumpers for Woodside’s Julimar Field. The company supplied 2-inch 10,000-psi TCP jumpers for monoethylene glycol injection service. At the time, this was the first use of TCP technology offshore Western Australia, the company claimed.
