ADELAIDE, Australia  NOPSEMA has accepted Santos’ offshore project proposal for the Dorado Field development in the Bedout Basin offshore Western Australia.

Santos plans a phased project, initially focused on recovery of liquids with gas re-injection followed by development and export of the gas to the Western Australian domestic and LNG markets.

Other discoveries in the area such as last year’s Pavo would be included within the area covered by the project proposal to sustain production through the offshore facilities.

Dorado is in production license WA-64-L, while Pavo Field is in exploration permit WA-438-P.

Santos managing director and CEO Kevin Gallagher said, “Our focus now is to finalize the concept for an integrated liquids and gas development and obtain the remaining approvals required to support a final investment decision.

The company estimates combined 2C resources at Dorado and Pavo at 189 Mbbl of liquids and 401 petajoules of gas. Its partner in both fields is Carnarvon Energy.
