ADELAIDE, Australia – Santos has issued updates on its field expansion/development programs offshore Western Australia.
The company’s fourth-quarter oil production rose due to higher output from the FPSO Ningaloo Vision following maintenance completed in October and startup of the first well from the Pyrenees infill program in late December.
The Spartan development well is nearing completion, with preliminary analysis of drilling/testing results suggesting good reservoir quality and deliverability, above pre-drill expectations.
However, production will likely be delayed into second-quarter 2023 to accommodate repairs at John Brookes, where the platform was temporarily shut down in late November.
Work on reinstatement of the John Brookes offshore gas pipeline continues with production set to resume by early February.
Santos is close to completing the FEED for the Bayu-Undan carbon capture and storage project in the Timor Sea region, along with selection of main equipment packages.
The company continues talks with the Timor-Leste and Australian governments on the project’s regulatory and commercial frameworks and has executed MoUs with three potential customers. The associated demand for CCS is equivalent to the maximum sequestration capacity of 10 MMt/year of CO2.
