LYSAKER, Norway — Aker BP has started production from the Idun Tunge development in the Skarv area of the Norwegian Sea and expects to submit a plan for development and operation for its Skarv Satellites project later this year.

In addition, the company recently drilled a successful well on the Newt prospect in production license 941 in the same area, discovering oil and gas in the range 11 MMboe to 36 MMboe, which could be produced via the Skarv FPSO.

In the Barents Sea, the company and operator Equinor are progressing work on the Wisting field development, the proposed concept including an FPSO with subsea wells powered from shore, with gas exported through the Snøhvit infrastructure. The final investment decision (FID) should follow shortly.

Another decision is imminent for an IOR campaign next year at the Edvard Grieg Field, which Aker BP now operates following its acquisition of Lundin Norway. Production from the first well should flow in mid-2023.

Nearby, the Maersk Invincible rig recently started drilling three IOR wells at the Ivar Aasen Field, with first oil expected before year-end 2022. Production from the Hanz project, a tie-in to the Ivar Aasen platform, is on track for startup in early 2024.

Elsewhere in the Utsira High region, the company and its partners have taken concept select decisions for the Lille Prinsen, Rolvsnes full field, and Solveig Phase 2 projects, with long lead items committed and FIDs anticipated before year-end 2022.

In the Alvheim area of the North Sea, drilling of the first of two wells for the Frosk satellite development started early this month. Following subsea tieback operations, production should start in the first half of 2023.

As for the Kobra East & Gekko (KEG) project, the subsea pipelines and static umbilical have been installed, with drilling due to start in direct continuation of the Frosk program, allowing for a production start in 2024. Drilling for the Trell and Trine tieback will begin directly following completion of the KEG drilling campaign. First oil is scheduled for 2025.
