LONDON — Netherland Sewell & Associates has completed a review of the Anchois gas field offshore Morocco for operator Chariot Energy.
Estimated recoverable 2C (contingent) and 2U (prospective) resources have now risen to 1.4 Tcf.
According to Chariot, the findings support its decision to fast-track its field development plans for Anchois to help satisfy growing demand for gas in Morocco and potentially export surplus supplies to Europe.
In addition, the review covered other exploration prospects in the Lixus Offshore and adjacent Rissana Offshore licenses.
On Lixus, the two key undrilled prospects are Maquereau and Anchois West, and the newly identified Anguille prospect (2U) are all part of the same Tertiary play containing Anchois.
Total remaining recoverable resources (2C plus 2U, comprising audited and internal Chariot estimates) across the entire Lixus portfolio now stand at about 4.6 Tcf.
As for Rissana Offshore, an early assessment of areas covered by 3D seismic provides a total 2U prospective resource of more than 7 Tcf. This is based on the high-graded prospect Emissole in the Anchois tertiary and multi-Tcf prospects in the higher-risk Mesozoic play.
To fast-track development of the Anchois gas field, Chariot recently awarded a FEED contract to a consortium of Schlumberger and OneSubsea, with Societe Generale appointed to lead the debt financing.
