Phase 1 of the Aje field development plan, which commenced in May 2016, focused on the Aje Cenomanian oil reservoir and included the tieback of two existing subsea wells and a leased FPSO vessel. The planning for Phase 2 is underway and will see additional wells drilled to increase total Cenomanian oil production. Phase 3 will target the development of the Turonian gas condensate reservoir.
LAGOS, Nigeria — ADM Energy says the partners in the Aje oil field development offshore Nigeria are looking to replace the current FPSO to increase capacity, as part of long-term development plans for the surrounding OML-113 lease.
They have decided not to commit to an extension of the current FPSO contract and will stop production in preparation for demobilization of the vessel from the field. They are working to secure another FPSO that could allow for substantially increased production from the redevelopment of Aje.
Earlier this year, government approvals came through for one of the partners, Panoro Energy, to sell a 10% stake to PetroNor.
Completion of this transaction should speed up the final investment decision (FID) on the long-term field development plan. This includes potential drilling of three new wells to increase oil and gas production.
Dr. Babatunde Pearse, chief engineer for the Aje development, will lead the planning, development and also oversee FEED studies to support the FID.
