HOUSTON – McDermott has completed a platform transportation and installation campaign in the Nam Con Son basin offshore Vietnam for EPCIC contractor PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation Mechanical & Construction.
The scope of work comprised transportation and installation for the central processing platform jacket, wellhead service deck and topsides floatover for Idemitsu Gas Production Co.’s Sao Vang and Dai Nguyet gas/condensate field developments.
The first campaign included launching a 12,600-metric ton (13,889-ton) jacket – according to McDermott, Vietnam’s heaviest jacket launch to date – using the Derrick Barge 30 in water depths of around 372 ft (113.4 m).
The company said campaign two was the largest floatover installation of a central processing platform topsides in Vietnam, weighing 14,500 metric tons (15,983 tons).
Installation was achieved through a tight-slot floatover with less than 4-in. of clearance on either side.
