RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has postponed start-up of the first-phase of the Mero oil field development, through the FPSO Guanabara, from 4Q 2021 to 1Q 2022.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused delays in the construction of the FPSO in China.
MODEC is supplying the FPSO Guanabara,which will be installed in the Mero field in the Santos basin presalt. It is expected to have a processing capacity of 180,000 b/d of oil.
The Mero field is operated by Petrobras (40%) in partnership with Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda. (20%), Total E&P do Brasil Ltda. (20%), CNODC Brasil Petróleo e Gás Ltda. (10%), CNOOC Petroleum Brasil Ltda. (10%) and Pré-Sal Petróleo SA (PPSA), which plays the role of manager of this contract.
