PERTH, Australia – BHP’s current ocean bottom node seismic acquisition campaign over the Trion field offshore Mexico should be completed during the current quarter, the company revealed in its latest review.

Results will be incorporated into the ongoing development planning program.

This year, the company has budgeted $450 million for exploration and appraisal globally.

BHP’s Broadside-1 recent exploration well in the Southern license offshore Trinidad and Tobago was P&A’d as a dry hole.

Offshore southeast Australia, the Bass Strait West Barracouta project is on schedule and budget, and set to achieve first production later in 2021.

Last month, BHP and the North West Shelf joint venture partners executed gas processing agreements for processing third-party supplies from the Pluto project offshore Western Australia, and the onshore Waitsia project, through the North West Shelf facilities.

In November, the company acquired an additional 28% in the Shenzi field in the Us Gulf of Mexico, representing around 11,000 boe/d of added production.
