LONDON – Independent Oil and Gas (IOG) has issued a progress report on its Core Project Phase 1 in the UK southern North Sea.
HSM’s yard in Schiedam, the Netherlands, is fabricating the Phase 1 Southwark and Blythe gas platforms. These are on track for mechanical completion in 1Q 2021 and installation in 2Q 2021.
Southwark and Blythe deck stacking and internal fit-out is progressing, with both jackets also under construction. HSM has fortified COVID-19 restrictions but to date there have been no interruptions.
Later this month, offshore pipelay should finish of the 6-in. Elgood and Blythe 12-in. lines, which will respectively be connected to the Blythe platform and the 24-in. Thames export pipeline.
Subsea 7 has performed line pipe welding and spooling onshore at its Leith base north of Edinburgh.
Other subsea tie-in equipment and the Elgood umbilical are either being fabricated or are awaiting installation.
The Oil and Gas Authority has approved Petrofac to serve as Phase 1 well operator.
Onshore, refurbishment works are progressing on the Thames Reception Facilities (TRF) at the Bacton Gas Terminal in Norfolk. IOG is working closely with the terminal operator Perenco on this program and to minimize the requirement for new equipment.
Clean-out and inspection of the TRF slug catchers have been completed and the facilities are now available for re-use. Tie-in activities will take place during the scheduled shutdown of the terminal in the current quarter.
Under the UK’s recent 32nd Licensing Round IOG secured all the blocks it applied for. These include two new operated gas discoveries, Panther and Grafton, adjacent to the company’s existing portfolio, in partnership with CER.
Estimated mid-case recoverable resources are 46 bcfe and 35 bcfe.
