OSLO, Norway – Aker BP has permission to start production from Phase 1 of the Ærfugl field development in the Norwegian Sea, according to the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
The subsea facilities are connected to the Skarv field FPSO, 210 km (130 mi) west of Sandnessjøen in Nordland county.
Production is also taking place from an earlier test production well in Phase 1 and an accelerated well in Phase 2, drilled from an available well slot on one of Skarv’s subsea templates.
Export of gas from Skarv will be postponed to provide capacity for Ærfugl’s gas on the FPSO, which should in turn assist oil recovery on Skarv.
