TRONDHEIM, Norway – OKEA is working on a tieback of the Hasselmus gas field in the Norwegian Sea to its Draugen platform complex.

It aims to submit a plan for development and operation within the next year which will include introducing power from shore for Draugen.

Discovered 20 years ago, the company is looking to produce first gas from Hasselmus in 2023 at an estimated cost of around NOK2 billion ($216 million).

OKEA plans to connect a well on the field to a pipeline transporting the gas to the Draugen platform, 7 km (4.4 mi) to the southeast.

Hasselmus’ reservoir contains gas in early Jurassic sandstone in the Ile and Ror formations, with reserves of around 12 MMboe.

OKEA has been working on plans for power from shore to Draugen for some time, its preference being for the platform to serve as a hub in the Haltenbanken area.

Various possibilities are under discussion with Equinor, including the Njord field.

In addition, the company is involved in studies concerning capture of carbon dioxide using amine-based technologies.
