ZWIJNDRECHT, Belgium – DEME Offshore’s installation vessel Innovation has installed 47 of the 94 foundations at Ørsted’s Borssele 1 & 2 offshore wind farm in the Dutch North Sea.

Construction works started in mid-January. Despite significant weather downtime in February the installation of the foundations is on schedule for completion in early June, DEME said.

The large carrying capacity of the Innovation, efficient jacking operations, and smooth offshore bolting operations have led to record installation cycles, the company said.

Borssele 1 & 2 is Ørsted’s first offshore wind farm in the Netherlands. It is 22 km (14 mi) off the coast of the Dutch province of Zeeland, in water depths ranging from 14 to 39.7 m (46 to 130 ft).

The wind farm is expected to be completed this year.
