NORWICH, UK – Aquaterra Energy will design and assist installation of a Sea Swift platform offshore Angola for Chevron subsidiary Cabinda Gulf Oil Co. (CABGOC).
The conductor-supported platform (CSP) will be installed in 60 m (197 ft) of water at the Lifua-A field. According to Aquaterra, CABGOC selected the Sea Swift because the modular design minimizes build and implementation time, and because the structure could be constructed locally in Cabinda.
Aquaterra Energy’s engineering and project management teams will handle the program, employing Angolan fabrication and installation support.
Stewart Maxwell, the company’s technical director, said: “CSPs like Sea Swift can be installed by jackup, so that operators can take advantage of the infrastructure they have available in the field, without the need to mobilize other assets.”
Sea Swift is a minimum-facility offshore platform that employs well conductors as the structural support for the topsides. The design is said to offer a relatively low-risk, lower-capex and faster route to first oil.
This will be the company’s fifth Sea Swift platform for a project offshore West Africa.
