ADELAIDE, Australia – Santos says the Dorado oil field development in the Bedout basin off Western Australia is progressing toward a front-end engineering design decision during 2Q.
At this stage the preferred concept is an FPSO and wellhead platform, with an initial phase focused on oil and condensate followed by a future gas export phase.
Elsewhere in the region, the company expects the FPSO Ningaloo Vision that produces from Van Gogh and associated oil fields to start a shipyard maintenance program in April.
Plans are under way for the Van Gogh infill Phase 2 project with three dual-lateral wells targeting undrained parts of the field. First oil should follow in late 2021.
During the current quarter, Santos expects to complete its acquisition of ConocoPhillips’ business in northern Australia and Timor-Leste, which include operated interests in Darwin LNG and the Bayu-Undan, Barossa, and Poseidon offshore fields for $1.39 billion plus a $75-million contingent payment subject to FID on Barossa.
Evaluation continues of tenders for the subsea umbilical riser and flowline package and drilling rig.
