HOUSTON — Worley has been selected to design and evaluate CO2 gathering, handling and sequestration facilities for the Bayou Bend CCS LLC joint venture located along the Gulf Coast in Southeast Texas.
The joint venture is owned by Chevron, Equinor and TotalEnergies to develop a carbon capture and storage (CCS) facility in Southeast Texas. The project aims to reduce emissions from regional industrial facilities by sequestering CO2 safely and permanently underground. The Bayou Bend project includes a CO2 storage footprint of nearly 140,000 acres of pore space.
The Gulf Coast has one of the heaviest concentrations of CO2 emissions in the US.
Earlier this year, Sulmara supported the project with offshore investigations along the proposed route of the Bayou Bend pipeline off southeast Texas. The company deployed an electric WAM-V 16 USV for a high-resolution geophysical survey for archaeological and geohazard assessment purposes.
