SANDNES, Norway — Vår Energi has found more oil close to its Gjøa hub in the Norwegian North Sea.
The Cerisa exploration well, drilled by the semisub Deepsea Yantai on PL 636, discovered an estimated 18 MMboe to 39 MMboe.
Cerisa and the nearby finds, Gjøa North and Ofelia/Kyrre, could contain up to 110 MMboe. The company and its partners are working on a fast-track tie-in to the Gjøa platform via existing infrastructure.
The rig drilled Cerisa and three additional sidetrack appraisal wells in 334 m water depth, with no oil-water contact encountered. So there could be upside to the resource range.
According to the Norwegian Offshore Directorate, well 36/7-5 S encountered a 46-m gas column and an a 9-m oil column in the Agat Formation. The three sidetracks also found oil in the same formation.
Other partners in the license are Inpex Idemitsu Norge, PGNiG Upstream Norway and Sval Energi.
