LONDON – Premier Oil expects Talos Energy to spud the first appraisal well on the shallow-water Zama oil field offshore Mexico at the end of this month.
The location will be north of the discovery well and will be designed to confirm the oil-water contact. It will also be deepened to test the Marte prospect and side tracked, in the latter case undergoing a flow test.
A second appraisal well will assess the southern part of the Zama field and will complete the block 7 appraisal program during 3Q 2019.
Premier also expects Pemex to spud the Asab-1 well early next year to test the extension of the Zama structure onto its block.
Elsewhere offshore Mexico, Premier plans to acquire 3D seismic across block 30, containing the potentially high-impact Wahoo prospect, and to reprocess existing 3D data over blocks 11 and 13 in the Burgos basin during 2019.
In the UK southern North Sea, the company is preparing to drill the Tolmount East appraisal well next summer and to acquire3D seismic across the Greater Tolmount Area during the first half of 2019 to assist definition of the Tolmount Far East well location.
As for the currentTolmount Main gas field development, platform fabricator Rosetti Marino in Italy has completed its award of the main long lead packages and expects to cut first steel in December.
Ensco will drill the four development wells, the first of which should come onstream during 4Q 2020.
Operating efficiency at Premier Oil’s Catcher FPSO in the UK central North Sea is improving, averaging around 65,000 boe/d of late.
The company expects to reach agreement with the FPSO provider to increase the contracted oil production rate from 60,000 b/d to 66,000 b/d soon.
In October, the 18th and final development well, a producer on the Burgman field, was completed.
On Natuna Sea block A off Indonesia, Premier operates the current Bison, Iguana and Gajah-Puteri (BIG-P) gas fields development.
Installation of the Naga and Pelikan deck extensions finished at the end of September and fabrication of the subsea structures started last month. Drilling of the BIG-P development wells due to get under way early next year ahead of first gas later in 2019.
By year-end the company expects a large 3D survey to start shooting over its Andaman II license.
