BANGKOK -- PTT Exploration and Production Public Co. Ltd. says its international unit will drill seven more exploration and delineation wells in block M9 in the Gulf of Mataban. The first well in the area recently flowed a combined 71.4 MMcf/d of natural gas.
According to PTTEP, the first test flowed 32 MMcf/d, the second test 26.6 MMcf/d, and the third test 12.8 MMcf/d.
The company expects to complete the seven wells by July this year and to begin preparations for future production, says parent company PTTEP International Ltd., which drilled the Zawtika-1A well in the M9 block offshore Myanmar 300 km south of Yangon.
PTTEP is the sole operator of the blocks and spudded the first well on Dec. 4, 2006, drilling to a TD of 3,567 m (11,703 ft).
