The Tuatara-1 well in the Tasman Bay part of the Taranaki basin offshore New Zealand is drilling ahead at 1,796 m (5,892 ft).

PERTH, Australia – The Tuatara-1 well in the Tasman Bay part of the Taranaki basin offshore New Zealand is drilling ahead at 1,796 m (5,892 ft). Operator AWE Ltd. says the gas shows will be assessed by wireline log after reaching total depth. The well is scheduled to reach 2,025 m (6,644 ft).

The well targets the Moki sandstones and is in 50 m (164 ft) of water.

AWE holds 60%, Roc Oil (Tasman) Pty Ltd. has 20%, and both Kea Oil and Gas Ltd. and Carnarvon Petroleum (NZ) Ltd. hold 10% each.
