Talisman cleared to drill north of Yme

Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Talisman Energy’s planned exploration well 9/2-11, 11 km (6.8 mi) north of its Yme field in the North Sea.

OSLO -- Petroleum Safety Authority Norway has approved Talisman Energy’s planned exploration well 9/2-11, 11 km (6.8 mi) north of its Yme field in the North Sea.

The well will be drilled by the semisub Transocean Winner in production license 316 DS, in a water depth of around 100 m (328 ft).

Drilling should start this month, with a probable duration of around 40 days. The Transocean Winner is a third-generation semi of the GVA-4000 design, built in 1983 at Gøtaverken Arendal in Gothenburg.
