CALGARY, Canada – Ithaca Energy has completed a successful drillstem test on the Andrew sandstone interval in the Hurricane appraisal well in the UK central North Sea.
The DST delivered 24 MMcf/d of gas and 1,200 b/d of associated condensate from a 44/64-in. fixed choke. The wellbore will be suspended as a future Andrew reservoir production well, capable also of producing from the Rogaland reservoir.
Well 29/10b-8 was drilled by the semisubmersible Wilhunter to appraise sands in the eastern lobe of the Hurricane structural closure in the Greater Stella Area.
It intersected 32 ft (9.7 m) of Eocene Rogaland sandstone with an average porosity of 28% over the net sands and 20 ft (6 m) of Paleocene Andrew sandstone reservoir, similar to that observed in the main Andrew sandstone reservoir of the Stella field, 10 km (6.2 mi) east of Hurricane.
