RIO DE JANEIRO – Petrobras has completed drilling of Entorno de Iara 3, the final exploratory well under the presalt Santos basin Rights Transfer Agreement.
Well 4-BRSA1226-RJS (4-RJS-728), the third on the Entorno de Iara block, was drilled 241 km (150 mi) off Rio de Janeiro state in 2,224 m (7,296 ft) of water. It confirmed good quality 27º API oil in carbonate reservoirs below the presalt layer, starting at a depth of 5,548 m (18,202 ft) down to TD of 5,875 m (19,275 ft).
Petrobras drilled a total of 16 exploratory wells over six areas under the Rights Transfer Agreement, with a 100% success rate. Results suggest 5 Bboe in place, in line with the volume contracted with the Brazilian federal government.
Late last year Petrobras haddeclared commerciality for part of the volume contracted in the Franco area (now the Búzios field) of 3.058 Bboe and the Tupi Sul area (now the Sul de Lula field) of 128 MMboe.
Elsewhere in the region, the company has started production from well 7-LL-22D-RJS on theLula field (Lula NE Pilot area). The well, designed to produce up to 26,000 b/d of oil, is connected to the FPSOCidade de Paraty.
The riser section of the production pipelines is supported by a submerged buoy at a water depth of 240 m (787 ft). The wellhead is in a water depth of 2,130 m (6,988 ft).
During 2014, six more wells will be connected to the platform (four producers and two injectors) using the Subsea 7-supplied riser support buoy system, which is suspended from the seafloor via eight steel tendons. In 3Q the company expects the FPSO to reach its full production capacity of 120,000 b/d.
