TRONDHEIM, Norway – Det norske oljeselskap has issued Maersk Drilling with a Letter of Award (LoA) for a jackup for the Draupne development project in the Norwegian North Sea.
This is a CJ-70-design, ultra-harsh environment jackup, XL Enhanced 2, which is currently under construction in Singapore.
The firm contract duration for development drilling on Draupne is three years with options to extend for up to seven years. Total contract value for the firm three-year period is around $413 million.
Maersk’s LoA is subject to approval by the Norwegian authorities of the development plans for the Draupne field.
Det norske is operator with 35%, in partnership with Statoil (50%), and Bayerngas Norway (15%).
