STAVANGER, Norway — Longboat Energy has issued an update on its exploration drilling programs offshore Norway.
Last month the company was awarded 30% of a new permit in the North Sea containing the Lotus prospect, under the Norwegian 2022 APA Licensing Round. Lotus is close to the Kveikje discovery (Longboat, 10%).
Depending on future drilling outcomes, both prospects could form part of Equinor’s planned Ring Vei Vest cluster development comprising multiple oil discoveries made west of the Troll Field.
These include Rover Sør oil discovery, which Equinor announced last week.
Longboat added that it was pursuing monetization options for its position in the area.
This summer, the Transocean Norge semisub is set to spud the OMV-operated Velocette exploration well (Longboat, 20%), targeting a 177-MMboe gas prospect.
Longboat is also working on up to two additional wells for its 2024 drilling program alongside a well on Lotus, set to be drilled in second-half 2024.
