PARIS, FranceQatarEnergy has farmed into 30% of TotalEnergies/Eni’s interest in exploration blocks 4 and 9 offshore Lebanon.

TotalEnergies (operator) and Eni will each retain a 35% share of the two concessions.

Block 9, covering 1,749 sq km, is about 80 km from the off the coast of southern Lebanon in water depths of roughly 1,700 m. The 1,911-sq-km Block 4 is in water depths of about 1,500 m.

“The recent delineation of Lebanon’s maritime border with Israel has created a new momentum for the exploration of its hydrocarbon potential,” said Patrick Pouyanné, chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies. “Along with our partners, we are committed to drilling as soon as possible in 2023 an exploration well in Block 9, and our teams are mobilized to conduct these operations.”
