LYNGBY, Denmark – Equinor has exercised a one-well option with Maersk Drilling for the Martin Linge field development in the Norwegian North Sea.
The low-emission jackup Maersk Intrepid should start the 80-day program in September, in direct continuation of its current work scope.
Value of the extension is around $29.5 million, including integrated services but excluding potential performance bonuses.
The two companies have a master framework agreement under which they collaborate on technology advancements and initiatives to limit greenhouse gas emissions.
The Maersk Intrepid, the first in Maersk Drilling’s fleet be upgraded to a hybrid, low-emission rig, has been achieving reduced fuel consumption and CO2 emissions during recent drilling operations of around 25%, compared to its baseline average, and NOx emissions around 95% lower.
