OSLO, Norway – Wintershall Dea has permission from the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate for exploration drilling in license 211 in the Norwegian Sea.
The semisubmersible Deepsea Aberdeen will drill the well 10 km (6.2 mi) north of the company’s Dvalin field following a shipyard stay.
Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority also issued consents to two other operators for drilling programs.
Equinor will use the semisub Deepsea Nordkapp for a well on the Shenzhou prospect in PL 722 in the Barents Sea, in a water depth of 439 m (1,440 ft). Drilling should last 61 days.
Additionally, the company has an extended consent for use of the semisub COSLPromoter for drilling, completion, workover, well intervention and plugging activity on the Troll field in the North Sea.
For ConocoPhillips the jackup West Linus will drill on the Ekofisk field in PL 018 in the southern Norwegian North Sea.
