HOUSTON – VAALCO Energy has issued an update on its rolling 2019/2020 drilling program offshore Gabon.
The company has completed a planned workover on the Etame platform for the Etame 10H well, restoring 600 b/d of oil production.
Etame 4H, which came onstream in December is currently producing 1,000 b/d.
The rig has since mobilized to the Southeast Etame North Tchibala (SEENT) platform and has started drilling the Southeast Etame 4P appraisal well, designed to assess a previously undrilled Gamba formation step-out area.
If results from this well are positive, a third development well, Southeast Etame 4H well, will be drilled to develop the Gamba step-out area, targeting 4-10 MMbbl of prospective resources.
In addition, the company is lining up further workovers to pre-emptively replace electric submersible pumps (ESPs) that have already reached their anticipated four- to six-year operating lifespan.
VAALCO plans to install its current ESP design, which has been successfully implemented in other wells since mid-year 2018. The changeovers could potentially add production and allow for operational efficiencies, the company claimed.
