HOUSTON – Cortland has introduced a new load transfer hook for the oil and gas and marine markets at this year’s OTC.

The Selantic Hook, first developed for a major operator in the Gulf of Mexico, is compatible with synthetic fiber slings and will be used for load transfer and pull-in operations where a compact rigging assembly is needed.

According to Cortland, the initial development was for one of the world’s deepest subsea production sites.

This involved deployment with a custom fiber-fiber hook combined with Selantic fiber slings to reduce the length of the total working assembly. It was also designed to be low snag and narrow for efficient operation through an FPSO i-tube.

Cortland is exhibiting at booth #801.
