SOFEC describes Catenary Anchor Leg Mooring (CALM) Buoys as offshore marine terminals comprised of a floating hull connected to the seafloor with catenary anchor legs and a rotating turntable to which tankers can moor to enable import or export of oil and refined products.
SOFEC has a new EPC contract to supply a replacement CALM Buoy and PLEM system offshore Thailand, the company announced April 7.
The new equipment will be designed to support operations for a further three decades.
The CALM Buoy, to be moored in 26 m water depth, will berth tankers up to 320,000 DWT and support transfer of up to 60,000 bbl/hr of crude oil and condensate.
