GREAT YARMOUTH, UK -- 3sun has completed an investigation for ODE of low pressure tripping of a combined wellhead control panel (WHCP) and hydraulic power unit (HPU) at the Cavendish gas field platform in the UK Southern gas basin.

According to 3sun, there was an underlying problem when certain valves were opened -- this became more prominent after Cavendish platform became a fully unmanned facility in July 2007.

Through modeling, software simulations, and condition-based monitoring, 3sun determined causes for the tripping. The company was able to recommend a software modification to inhibit valve operations at certain HPU hydraulic header pressures for certain valves.
