NEWNAN, Georgia -- The EtherNet/IPTM communication interface for Yokogawa Electric's data acquisition and industrial recorder products has passed the ODVA conformance test -- a first in this field, according to Yokogawa.
Now available on the MW100 data acquisition/data logging system, and soon to be released on the DXAdvanced data acquisition station, EtherNet/IPTM is the open, industrial network technology built on the IEEE 802.3 Ethernet standard, widely used on programmable logic controllers (PLC) and numerous other control systems and devices.
Data acquisition, control, and automation systems now share information using the same Ethernet network technology and infrastructure already employed on the business and administration side of the plant.
With EtherNet/IPTM, customers can readily install the MW100 on a plant network and enable communications with popular PLC systems using familiar software configuration tools already in use. The web-enabled MW100 enhances the functionality of PLC systems by adding high quality external I/O, secure local data storage and real-time web browser monitoring of the available PLC data.
