Sumitomo commissions THREE60 Energy for power cable carousels

ABERDEEN, UK — THREE60 Energy will design and supply storage carousels for the Sumitomo Electric Industries power cable factory in Nigg, northeast Scotland.

Sumitomo announced the £200-million investment earlier in the year to support wind farm developments in Scotland.

THREE60 will design and construct the carousels at its facilities in Glasgow and will also collaborate with Scottish suppliers concerning support for manufacturing, fabrication and transportation. The carousels will range from 250 t to 400 t, with two loading arm options.

The program will take place over the next 2.5 years, with delivery of the first carousel components to Nigg factory expected in mid-2025. They will undergo assembly and testing by THREE60 technicians and engineers on site.
