GREAT YARMOUTH, UK — Well integrity specialist Unity has signed a partnership agreement with Hiber to bring the latter’s HiberHilo remote monitoring and management tool to the UK and European offshore/onshore market.
Hilo is a digital data system already used by Shell, Santos, Dacian Petroleum, Niger Delta Petroleum Resources and others. The service is available in the US, South America, Eastern Europe, West Africa and the Caribbean region. In addition, Hiber is working with agents and partners in the Middle East, Australia and Asia.
HiberHilo combines various sensors that gather data from wells and relay this to an online client dashboard via a global satellite network. Data are transmitted every 15 minutes to provide a picture of how a well is performing 24/7.
Alongside wireless pressure and temperature sensors are ATEX-certified wired-to-wireless (W2W) sensors that can be connected to an existing electrical sensor to deliver a LoRaWAN signal. So flow data, methane detection, variable speed drive, torque and voltage readings can be added to the remote monitoring service.
These data can alert clients when a well is down allowing them to take targeted action and is said to reduce the need for regular physical checks. It also can be used for long-term integrity monitoring or to optimize production through monitoring pressure and flow rates on producing or injector wells.
For well abandonment, pressure data can give warning of required plugging operations ahead of time.
