CHARLOTTE, North Carolina Honeywell has released Safety Watch, a real-time location tool for industrial applications designed to enhance the health and safety of workers.

This new wearable safety tool uses radio-frequency identification (RFID) technology to monitor an employee’s health, detect and sound an alarm if an employee has gone idle for a long period of time, and identify if an employee has entered a restricted area.

Results have shown that Safety Watch can reduce mustering time up to 80% compared to manual processes while enabling faster search and rescue during emergency situations.

The technology can be implemented for both onshore and offshore operations. Honeywell’s team can help guide on the appropriate network architecture and connectivity based on the user’s specific needs.

Around the world, occupational health and safety remains a paramount concern for companies. According to the United National Global Compact, each year an estimated 2.78 million workers die from work-related accidents and diseases, while an additional 374 million workers suffer non-fatal accidents on the job. This means 7,500 people die every day from unsafe and unhealthy working conditions.
