SCHIDAM, the Netherlands — Seaway 7 has contracted Huisman to supply a 3,000-metric ton spreader bar.
This will support installation of offshore wind turbines and will be capable of handling the largest diameter and longest monopiles.
The spreader bar will be built to Seaway 7’s specifications, but it also will be based on a proven Huisman design.
According to the company, the system improves safety and efficiency in monopile and transition piece installations, with handsfree sling handling of monopiles, remotely controlled by an exchangeable battery pack.
Initially, Seaway 7 will deploy it for the Dogger Bank C wind farm in the U.K. North Sea.
