ABERDEEN, UK – OceanTools has introduced the OM-1 single function electric manipulator arm to the subsea market.
The OM-1 is a compact and cost-effective single function manipulator designed for use on smaller ROVs. According to the company, the grabber may be used for a range of applications including recovering ordnance from the seafloor or for stabilizing the ROV by holding onto an object.
The jaw head is detachable, allowing for other attachments to be fitted by the operator including rope cutters, sampling bottles, and a magnetic clamp.
Kevin Parker, managing director, OceanTools, said: “We have plans to develop a wide range of subsea robotic products to serve our clients worldwide… Longer term our intention is to offer multi-function electric arms as well as hydraulic arms for larger ROVs.”
