ESBJERG, Denmark – Viking Life-Saving Equipment will supply CNOOC Petroleum Europe Ltd. with personal protective equipment in the North Sea.
The agreement will cover the needs of around 16,000 passengers flying annually flying to and from the company’s platforms. Viking has already started providing helicopter carry-on safe equipment, survival suits, lifejackets, armbands and helicopter transit bags for the flights.
The suits and lifejackets were customized to reduce weight and increase comfort, in order to free up 40 kg of helicopter payload for transporting more spare parts and to cut fuel costs.
“With the new designs, we’ve managed to shave a kilogram off our suits,” said Viking business area director Alex Kristensen.
