THE HAGUE, the Netherlands – Tulip Oil Netherlands Offshore B.V. has started gas production from the Q10 field in the Dutch North Sea.
Initial flow from the QA-01 well began last Friday: the gas is processed at the TAQA-operated P15 platform.
The field came onstream a year after Tulip took a final investment decision.
Development involved construction of an unmanned platform byHeerema Fabrication Group, installed last December by the DEME Apollo vessel, and installation of a 42-km (26-mi) pipeline by Allseas from the Q10A location to the P15d platform.
In addition to the discovery well Q10A-01 (converted to the first producer), the Borr jackupProspector-1 will drill up to four additional development wells. Production will ramp up gradually as each of the wells is put onstream.
The Q10 field (formerly known as Q07A) was discovered in 2015 in shallow water, 20 km (12.4 mi) offshore the Netherlands.
The Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs awarded Tulip Oil a production license for the Q7/Q10a blocks in July 2017, in partnership with state-owned Energie Beheer Nederland.
