LONDON – BP has told Serica Energy that the US Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has issued a new license concerning the Rhum gas/condensate field in the UK central North Sea.
This authorizes the provision of essential goods, services, and support by certain US individuals and businesses to the field, in which Iranian Oil Company (UK) is a partner), until Nov. 4.
Serica is aiming to complete a transaction agreed with BP last November giving it operatorship of the producing Bruce, Keith, and Rhum fields. It also negotiated a deal with Total this August for further large stakes inBruce and Keith.
Discussions continue with OFAC on conditions that might allow Rhum to remain in production beyond the latest deadline.
