LUXEMBOURG – Nexen has contracted Subsea 7 to supply a subsea pipeline bundle for the Buzzard Phase 2 project, 55 km (34 mi) off the northeast coast of Scotland in the UK central North Sea.
The full scope includes project management, engineering, procurement, construction and installation of a 5-km (3.1-mi) long pipeline bundle with associated well and platform tie-ins, and provision of a heavy-lift vessel for transport and installation of a new topsides module at the Buzzard production complex.
Subsea 7 has started project management and detailed engineering at its office in Aberdeen and will manufacture the bundle at its Wester site near Wick, northern Scotland, with technical support from the company’s Pipeline Group in Glasgow.
Seaway Heavy Lifting in Zoetermeer, the Netherlands, will perform project management and engineering for the heavy-lift work. Offshore activities will take place mainly in 2020.
